Say Sasha was worth $95,000,000 and had been DJing for 20 years $95,000,000 / 20 years = 4,750,000 a year divided by 52 weeks = $91,000 a week. average over 20 years. Very unlikely unless Sasha is a stockbroker who pretends to be a DJ on the weekends

Red Faced Steve who does the saturday night in the Peacock near me says he gets £50. Between you and me though, it's more like £60 - plus i think he gets 2 free pints as well.

I'd say that running a record label and making music don't earn you the bucks these days - breaking even is pretty good for a label given the degree of file sharing and I'd doubt that the sales for producers pay a decent rate for the amount of hours put in.

This is why I always try to promote the producers and labels whose music I love ... otherwise they could decide it's just not worth it.

The money is in the DJ fees, but surely some of these must be more balanced in the current economic climate when clubs must be struggling to fill themselves each week. After paying 50% tax it makes you wonder what the final take home salary is.

Yeah but they have to be factored into the cost of booking the DJ and ultimately the price on the door no mater who pays

Clubs here subsidise to a certain extent for over the bar takings . I think this is all just too complicated

Your also forgetting these costs for Sasha.

Tour Manager: wages, travel, accomodation, sundries £40-50k pa
Couple of people back at base downloading your promo's, working on music for the V_rtek shows and doing edits £30k each pa

from personal experience i tried to get someone for a private boat party in 2008, JZ was $15k, dekay was around $20k, paolo mojo was a good option with only $5k, they all require tickets and accommodation tho, so we ended up getting red faced steve

red faced steve represents far better value for money the JZ imo. For all his fancy effects and toys, JZ cannot match RFS for versatility or sheer comedy.
Tomorrow night i'm going to a barbecue but i'll call in the Peacock on te way and get some pics and videos of RFS. It's about time he got a little more credit i think.
