And that is a vicious circle as well, it is finding the tunes you think are absolute gems and getting exciting playing them to others that keeps you wanting to do it and keeps your sets exciting.
When you are given tunes you probably think they're OK, but you don't get excited about them. so you just blend them together without much thought.

Sasha could take you on a proper journey, he managed to keep flow going for 3 hours and then completely change things around with a completely different feel, but you would still think, yeah that was spot on, no other track would have worked there as well as that did.

I listen to around 200 new releases every Sunday night, from those I narrow it down to around 30-50 in my carts, over the next few nights I play them and see what I think and tend to end up with around a dozen, enough to do an hour mix, maybe hour and a half.
I do it for fun, he does it for a living and I bet he doesn't listen to as many new releases as many on here do.

Sometimes if I only get 10-15 tracks after the first listen on a Sunday night, I then don't play them back during the week as I don't need to narrow them down, I have enough there for a mix, those mixes are the ones I tend to never really be happy with, tracks that start great but just get boring after a minute or two, or not enough flow between them. That is the sort of sets I feel Sasha is doing at the moment.

Correct. Cant blame him for losing his passion though after this time. Its like footy players who get so much money they stop trying. He plays a shit set does he get dropped? Will he ever get dropped? No is the answer.

He doesnt put any thought into his sets anymore you can tell. He just gets a load of tracks and mixes them. What used to set him apart from others was the dynamics of his mixing. The intricacy and blend of sounds. Hes just doing what everyone else can do nowadays. In the old days no one could do what he did and he had records no one else knew what the fuck they were. Its well known he has people to sift through the music before it gets to him now too and that plays a big part.

Hes better and i mean much better when he does things like 6 mix and picks personal music. That mix was sasha of old. Loads of eclectic gems no fucker had noticed.

Im just glad I got him in his prime and am not contributing to his pay packet anymore. Why anyone would pay for this shite i dont know.

    Hey?

I think is mixing is really poor now.

When you listen to some board members mixes and those from people like Ricky Ryan etc. he just doesn't seem to cut it any more.

Agreed, the remixer was hammered mostly in the the wrong parts.
I have to say tho, given the fact ive virtually grown up listening to this guy play in some really obscure clubs in the north of England I feel let down slagging him off, but then on the other hand he's down and out lazy these days, using little or no new techology. His mixing is still second to none, but his choice of tracks and effects are poor.
Him and Tiger Woods should go out bowling

    LIKE!

i finally was able to listen to the mix and wanted to hop on here and see what peoples opinion were. i was at that party and yeah it was fun being there, but i have to agree. its not a good set and probably one of the worst sets ive ever heard him play. lol. he used that remixer too much and it wasnt flowing. i like when he uses it subtlety but he did it way too much at the wrong times in this set. im not a huge fan of his techno sets. oh well you cant win them all.

LOL, it must have gone under the radar, expect grown men to start crying and a long tedious exchange of emails from superwave.

Don't hate the man cuz he has the ability to drop a great techno set outta no where! It's a bumpin' set that rivals Richie Hawtin. Keep on keep in' on SASHA!!

just listened back to it. Just as I remember, first half was turgid, second half a little better. Lat 30 mins best overall.

One thing is for sure, Sasha aint a techno DJ
