I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

Re: NASA: Voyager I enters solar system's final frontier

I just want to be able to go back in time.

sort out a few stupid mistakes I made.

If you could go back, what is one thing you would do differently that you know altered where you are? Not saying you are unhappy where you are, but for shits and giggles, to see what would be different.

this may be a new thread in and of itself...

Obviously changing one tiny little thing would drastically alter what I am today, but I would've taken college seriously the first time around. I could be graduating in December with my PhD, instead I'm just now getting my Bachelor's. Oh well.

Re: NASA: Voyager I enters solar system's final frontier

I'd have done my book report in Phsychology my freshman year of college instead of going to my first rave, which would have let me keep my A instead of bumping my final grade to a D, which would have bumped me up from salutatorian.

              I guess it wasn't a big deal

Conspiracy theory...I don't buy it. And I certainly wouldn't go as far as to say "Everyone knows it."

This kinda stuff has fascinated me for a long as I've been alive. I remember reading my Dad's college astronomy books as a kid a just thinking that I would so rather be out there than here. The very fact that Voyager is still operational is a miracle in itself. 30 years out there in the void and still going strong??!! These sheer randomness and chaos of space says it should have been blasted by a comet or meteor by now. If it is still functioning in 2020 like they say it will be, who knows what it might find along the way??!!! The very thought of it makes me so glad to live in this age, where feats such as this are not only probable, but possible. And down here on Earth we waste our time with wars and "Runaway Brides" and American Idol...it all seems so...unneccesary.

                    [/philosophical mode]

This subject sure does bring it out of us, huh??

There was a funny research on how we learn the things that 'everyone knows'... They asked two groups of school kids (in australia I think) what was the earth, sun and moon like. The first group were kids that were not yet learning any biological/physical stuff - I think about 5 years old. The others already knew the thories. And of course their answer differed - the younger said stories about how sun rises from the earth horizon and so on. The older new the earth was round and that it went along an orbit around the sun and that this gave the impression that it's sun that is travelling around the earth. So they were sort of knowing what the adults know. But when they were asked to draw the earth all of the kids drew a flat piece of land with people standing on top... They simply didn't believe that the earth was really a sphere...

the everyone knows thing was a joke kids. I have been in debates over it, and it is really intersting hearing and reading some of the proof either way.
It is just like anything we have been discussing here, all you can do is draw your own conclusion, because unless you actually see it.. you can't really prove it.

i know it was... I'm only pointing out to th edifference between knowing and believing. It's funny that when you grow up into the adult society you start to believe instantly. Befere that you rather check everything...

if in the last 30 years we could have accelerated our growth / knowledge / abilities thanks to the uncountable technological developments, imagine where we'd be in a 1000 years, 10,000 years, a million years.... moving mountains, creating clouds, changing atmospheres, creating lives, etc. etc. is just a wink of an eye at that stage...

additionally, since this race of humans has learnt everything from the technological aspect of things, they are fully aware of the psychological realities of humans and to avoid mass hysteria on earth - by not having ONE leader (GOD) when in reality GOD is this entire race of beings, they came up with the idea of having God appearing different to different cultures, but still one God.....

so if true, how does that really affect us all, in our beliefs, our religions, allah, jesus, vishnu...... are they the portrayal of another race of beings to keep chaos under control ?
