When will they ever learn. ?? You own a gun you are far more likely to be killed by that gun than any criminal.

That's why there are gun safety courses and weapon storage safes (though that will work against you during an early morning home invasion). California has some of the strictest gun laws on the books in the lower 50, and we can see how well that worked for them (radicalized Jihadists will find a way in an open society, which is why we should be careful not to import them here; how many refugees is AU accepting?). Either way, short of instituting a martial law scenario, disarming law-abiders will have the effect of devolving the rest of the country into a southside Chicago or Detroit. Criminals, cartels, gangbangers, terrorists, et al won't be voluntarily lining up to sing a round of Kumbaya and shed their WMDs.
