Re: new iPod.

there is NO WAY I would spend that kind of money for a feckin touch screen ipod with way way less space for my music. Screw that. I want the 160GIG Ipod..now that is for me...tons of space for lots of sets.

indeed...I'm cracking up at those who just HAD to be first to buy an iPhone. Some of them will get $100 store credits now...

"all your money are belong to us."

Re: new iPod.

Ok, someone correct me, but why get the new iPod at all and just get the iPhone? The 16G iPod is exactly the same price and features as the iPhone except 8G less.

And if you're music person like everyone on this board, 16 G isn't going to do it. They need to up the storage space on the new iPod.

Re: new iPod.

Because you need to activate the iphone for it to work as an iPod.

Man, Apple puts out some sexy shit. Anyone want an 80G Video iPod so I can justify getting a new one?

Try convincing someone that it doesn't have lower quality audio and bad battery output. Good luck.

Because a "smarter" person would not want shitty AT&T service. That's why.

Re: new iPod.

The only attribute I am missing from the new iPod touch is an email client. Once that gets sorted I will be buying one. I need a PDA device and no way am I signing a two year agreement. As it is, I hate fucking mobile phones ... what a leash to life.

Re: new iPod.

Has anyone heard any other hardware upgrades besides the hdd such as the sound processor?

Re: new iPod.

gutted they're putting out shitty 16 gb nonsense and charging $399 for eye candy surfing of album art and a crappy wifi enabled browser.

They shoulda released a 40 gb version of it for 399. That would've been totally justified.

Re: new iPod.

wtf, does the iTouch need a carrier to work as well ? (or did I read this conversation wrong)

Switched On: Touched by a hacker - Engadget

http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/18/switched-on-touched-by-a-hacker/

Each week Ross Rubin contributes Switched On, a column about technology, multimedia, and digital entertainment: I glanced at the clock, 1:36 PM. Perhaps I should not have gotten my hopes up. For weeks I'd been exchanging e-mail with an elite hacker who promised to speak with me about the latest attempt to free hardware from the shackles of manufacturers that bind it, sticking it to such companies by making their products more desireable. Just then, Skype lit up like a flaming notebook battery. It was the notorious hacker 5m0kNcR4K. A shadowy figure in the videoconferencing window spoke in a disguised voice. "I'm in ur Skype, grantin' ur interview. Do not try to identify me. By using advanced digital video effects, I have pixelated my facial image, put myself in silhouette, and added a big blue dot in front of my face." "What video effect makes it look like you have bunny ears?" "Oh, that's just a mask I picked up at Party City." "We could have just spoken by phone, you know. Or just used VOIP. Besides, I thought we were set to talk at 1 PM." "I thought 13:37 would be more appropriate."

"So, tell me about this new project you're working on."

"It is Apple again. You think they would have learned their lesson with the iPhone, locking consumers to a specific carrier."

"Well, it looks like a couple of groups have gotten around that already."

"Indeed, we have left that to lesser hackers. We are taking on a far greater challenge. We will unlock the iPod Touch so it will work with any carrier."

"But... that's impossible."

"Difficult, perhaps. But not impossible."

"I don't think you understand. It's just an iPod. It may look like a phone but--"

"But it doesn't work with your carrier, I know. Soon we will fix that. In fact, we've already made great progress toward this."

"You have?"

"Yes, we've already found a way to get the Wi-Fi working with any access point."

Re: new iPod.

no way apple would ask for wi-fi subscription fee. How could you control such an aspect. I think this was in regards to the iPhone being used as wi-fi device, not a mobile.

We missed something in this context.

new iPod.
