i think it would be a good idea to help raise money to help maintain the site.

I brought up the idea to -e- recently. In his response, which I'm sure he'll reiterate shortly, he mentioned that the idea had been brought up in the past and that there were a few designs already. Unfortunately I think that the [ms] team was/is concerned with the business aspect of accepting money for merchandise (ie taxes, etc). I could be forgetting something as I just recently deleted the PM from my inbox.

there was talk about doing it before wmc in 2003. but the idea just faded away.
the [ms] team obviously have their hands full with other bizzniss.
besides, where would the funding for this come?
i know i'd expect a freebie.
