As for DJs not DJing, I witnessed this Thursday night. I went to a club and started talking to the DJ about tracks, well when the end of the track was coming up and I kinda backed off so he could mix, but he keeps talking then next thing you know here comes in another track while he's still talking. He was just letting the cds play.

i got into a debate with someone the other day at a club who told me the art of djing involved knowing the physical characteristics of each of your records

well he can have fun doing that but I'll be busy using sequencing software to set up sick live pa sets, and you know what if theres an amazing mix that I think about but I know its too complex to do it live -- then im gonna pre record it. not the set mind you, but that mix

the 'art' of djing is changing
get with it or have fun doing the same shit every other person in the world can do

With Sasha now playing pre-programmed set off his Mac, I'm beginning to wonder where this whole DJ thing is going??? So called DJ's can spend all week fine tuning a set on their Mac or PC and just show up to the club, and press the play button on Ableton's LIVE software...

What the h--l am I paying $40 to see again?

it doesnt surprise me he did that, all his sets used to sound almost the same as the cd he was promoting..

& RHV was even worse with playing the same sets over & over until he put out a new cd.

    Saw darude in London, ON.

The guy was clearly playing a CD. It was hilarious.

Just to give the guy a little credit, I was watching closely, and at the end of the night I think he actually played a couple of records, but overall the whole mix was a farce.

Lets see.... Dont know where to start with this one. Lets start with the funniest one.

Two years ago. Dj Irene. Im in the DJ booth with her. Shes pumping both fists in the air for at least 10 minutes while the tracks were mixed. Classic!!! Everyone in the crowd knew what was up.

Oakenfold....same thing. Was standing there, arms folded, looking down at the crowd while a new track came in.

Bad Boy Nutz... hahaha guy was too lit to even talk/

DJ Rap... had to put ON a CD cuz she was too drunk and kept t/w'ing
    lol

And yes, BT does plug in his Apple and do his thang...but so does PVD

How can you tell if a DJ is mixing or not unless ure standing directly behind him looking over his shoulders and listening into his headphones... im sure most of you dont know what the DJ is doing to begin with.
