i think the best djs out there show a range of musical knowledge through a set and make it work

    garnier, hawtin, richards for example

Just play everything... tech, prog, trance, whatever... throw it all in the pot and keep it interesting. Sticking to one genre is really limiting and not fair to your ears, or your psyche.

    WORD BROTHA!

I feel the same way dude. 1% of all my friends like EDM, and the 1% that do are mainly into techo/tribal. If I ever have people in my car, I need something that represents the music style that I like, not just a broad label for a genre of the music.

People that say they like all progressive are stupid. You don't hear people say they like all alternative or all rap, because there's always musicians that they don't like... the same applies for EDM. Just because a lot of the DJs are starting to play cheese doesn't automatically mean that Progressive is starting to suck; it just means those DJs are starting to suck. As long as you discriminate by set instead of by DJ/Genre you're bound to get shit that you want to hear

i like both, sometimes i'm tired from prog, put some tech stuff in playlist, then want again something more melodic. So i really prefer variety of good music.

tech is dope. some of the minimal stuff is a bit too... ummm... minimal. all in all though I give it a "yay!" most of the shit jenks has referred is really good and I've become a pretty big fan of redline sessions. my current love is for good REAL breaks not these assholes that call their prog sets breaks but real fucking breaks, that shit is raw.

I thought it was yahoo serious to be honest...

"Progressive" desperately needs to get back to meaning what it says.
That can only mean one thing. November's .AUdio show will feature a guest mix by none other than The Wiggles! Yay for GranT!

Prog house is really boring the tits off me in a lot of cases lately... and I completely agree with the trance-related comments. Much of the shit that's being played out - including the headliners - should be filed in the Tiesto (aka Recycle Bin) folder.

I'm no fan of predictable music in general. I don't want to know what's going to happen all the time. Sure.. structure is important, but bloody hell.. it's turned into a predictable cheesefest in many cases. Likewise with some electro stuff. Much of it sounds like a My First Casio Keyboard let loose a ripper to clear the elevator. Girly-as-crap vocals and basslines that would engage only the most trashed out gurner? For-fucking-geddit.

I want to hear sets I'm not embarrassed to play to friends who aren't clubbers. I want music that not only engages me, but interests me. I want something that won't sound outdated in 2 months.
