Sounds like a plan - nothing to lose and everything to gain you could say?
Good luck

Had a long flight back to L.a. sorry for being so late on the reply.
Thanks guys for all your encouraging words , this makes me look at things differently .... now that i have more time and things are a bit more chilled when I get back to Mexico I will def. contact that club owner and ask him for a night per week at the club .
I will let you guys know what went on
Cheers!Leave a comment:

If you ever fill in for another dj. Make sure that the club owner pays you. The owner usually should pay you after the gig anyway.
And instead of turning the guy down for that residency, you should have just asked him if he needed a Friday only dj, or a Saturday only DJ, which you could do much easier.Leave a comment:

Write the money off !
A at least you ended up being introduced to an audience and offered a residency based on your talent.
+ you got a valuable lesson in trusting people in the dj business, particularly as you can get fucked over from time to time - so you now know that you have to look out for yourself.
I'm sure Sasha got messed about in the early days of the UK scene ... but he always focused on the music to the point where no-one could afford to mess him about and he could turn down £20k paydays

Re: Advice on handling dj-promoter??
Yeah i thought about a night a week, hope that works for both of us.
Don't waste anymore of your time and energy on it. Just an idea, maybe you could approach the owner about one night a week. If you can do it of course. He likes you, it would be good if you could get something from that. It's a shame to let this oportunity go. Turn a negative into a positive and all that. And that other Dj would be really really pissed off
Win - Win
Good luck anyway!
Since is a very small scene at the city i currently live in , i'm sure i'll bump into him some day , i wonder how would that turn out
thanx for the advice
Pretty much in all South america is said like that , but a more a argentine way would be "te recago"

^that's a much better way of looking at it. Besides the money wasn't why you played, and now you have some cred.Leave a comment:

Re: Advice on handling dj-promoter??
you didn't get burned. you basically got publicity and the owner likes what you play. you got free press and now you're kind of in if anyone big comes to town. work with this owner so you get noticed, even if its 1-2 times/month.Leave a comment:

Re: Advice on handling dj-promoter??
No I didn't mention it to him , because I made the deal with the other guy ... not him. so there is no point in discussing it with him.
Yes i guess i'm learning the hard wayYou got burned. You didn't expect that this dj would be taking some of your profit by offering to pay you himself? It's just like dealers, who are dealers for other dealers for other dealers and so on....The further along that chain, the more money you will lose...Same thing here..
Show up at his house and kick his ass! Just kidding...
Lesson learned...
It ran through my mind that he might taking a cut but i didn't care at the moment , all i wanted to do is just play . but like i said before I hate people that get away with it regardless of the amount of money , he might do it to others so there should be a stop to this.Leave a comment:
