Wow feather I am so very sorry you are going through this. Its definitely a very difficult situation for anyone and only you will be able to make the best decision for yourself and your well-being.

First of all, it is very admirable of you to have stood by her all this time and I am sure in some way, you will always be there for her....however this seems like a very toxic situation and I think you need to take a step back from it. You need to focus on you and making yourself strong and happy.

Wow, sorry to hear this. It sounds like it doesnīt matter what you do for her, it will always be wrong in her eyes, and that feels fucked up. Donīt blame yourself for it, and donīt blame her. She had a hard time and you need to support her. You can tell her that you want to move on, but first she needs to be mentally stable. Take the time, take a lot of rest and keep us posting.

First your life is not over, in other words your life is just beginning! You were not born into this world with a mission to be the one who has to take care of your friend who is unfortunately ill. Your only mission is to take care of you (or your kids when you have them), well I know it may sound selfish but the events in your life are showing you the way out of this situation which is not your fault or your duty in any way!! Doing “the right thing” may sound noble but in reality has nothing to do with your purpose in life which is to make yourself as big a person as you can be and clearly this relationship does not make you happy. This mess you found yourself in may just as well be a blessing in disguise so you can move forward in life. What can you give others if you’re a mess? Make yourself happy first and others will follow! You can still be her friend and help her thru tough times anyways.
