Re: [ms] DJ Database
My idea is to create static (not generated on the spot) listings of all ms sets, at least for djs I like (Jody, Digweed, Timewriter). Whether Adam is willing to integrate those in the database or not, I don't know, it's up to the ms Bosses.

MS has no competitors! It competes with itself

Now I have to wait for my connection to be fixed, tho. It takes me 5 minutes to load this page.Leave a comment:

Re: [ms] DJ Database
No, I haven't had any of those installed in years, I'm on Facebook, though http://www.facebook.com/SbandoBoy.
I have no say about it, but isn't RA a direct competitor of sorts? I'm not sure. Users check out RA's database, they might think "why bother with ms".
Filling in the last.fm fields manually will take some time, it would be easier to import the entries from a file,
for instance http://www.last.fm/music/Way+Out+West - http://www.last.fm/music/Nick+Warren
last:artist_ID
=
last:Nick+Warren
last:Way+Out+West
etc.Leave a comment:

Re: [ms] DJ Database
I wanted to tie in a ms-based gallery to DJDB eventually, either via manual uploads or tags from member albums. I guess I'm ok with RA and last.fm if you're prepared to collect it
bando, are you on google talk/msn/aol/yahoo? pm me your name on them if you areLeave a comment:

Re: [ms] DJ Database
Apart from the music it collects info and galleris of dj's, many artists have it as a link on their FB or Myspace. But I do agree it could be seen as a competitor. We could add extra pics at the bottom of the page.
It was just an idea, it is very similar to what you're trying to do and could take users away from here.
Adding a new field is no big deal if you do it in batch -collecting the uri, that I can do.Leave a comment:

Re: [ms] DJ Database
last.fm is cool, you install a plugin for your mp3 player and it will send the id3 of the tune to the site, it tracks all of the stuff you listen to and gives you suggestions of new stuff. its cool to see your top artists you listen to over time.Leave a comment:

Re: [ms] DJ Database
I've never been on last.fm... I have no clue what it is. From what I tell, it seems to be another database of artists but with streaming audio. I'm not sure I agree with putting a link up since it would be similar to this place, but I don't mind adding more fields. The question is, do you really want to deal with back-filling the data for all of the existing DJs?
I can also help you do bulk tagging directly in the database if you need help.Leave a comment:

Re: [ms] DJ Database
Ribbzz is the real deal.
If I reach 2000 in a month from now, Chunky will have to address me as "Chief".
Still against adding Nationality? Or last.fm, it's a great source.
I hope users are beginning to understand that they can find older posts just by clicking on the tagged artist.
It would be cool to extend this and create a db of MS threads (I'm willing to do the tagging work).Leave a comment:
