Re: The Values Americans Live By
many of it was true ... which are most of the values i hate about this country. not all were bad...
9. ACTION/WORK ORIENTATION
this i feel to be partly true... most of my bosses are this way... but a lot of america is lazy as fuck and will sit there and stare all day of they can (and come here!)
8. FUTURE ORIENTATION
so true and i hate it. so many of my friends are so concerned of the future they cant just have fun. wont go out cause they need to save money... cant go on trips cause they cant afford it... all of these people have more money than me, and i go out whenever i please how often i please... and try to experience all out of life... instead of pissing and moaning about work in the morning.. -

I think thats a universal fact and doesnt have to do with being "American". I know an Indian dude in my office who possibly makes 3 times what I do (his job is way more involving and demanding than me and I'm glad he makes the 3 times with the hours he puts in
) and this dude is so tight with his money its shocking. But then again, he has kids who are ready to go school in a few years and it seems like he's putting away even part of his grocery bill into his kids college fund. So there could be less visible reasons why your buddies dont spend.
Article looks interesting, I'll see what "Indians" need to learn about the "American" culture. Most Indians who come overseas, other than bringing that part of their culture and beliefs to practice in their personal lives, leave a lot behind already since they realize they are already making a jump of astronomical proportions by pursuing a life in a foreign country and as a result, are more humbled by the opportunity than anything. Subsequyently, you will find Indians, compromising to extents far greater than most anyone from another country would, if they traveled overseas.
What goes around comes around, treat everyone with respect and it comes back to you.
I think Tom should post his share of information as well (he knows what I'm on about). He's in an even tougher spot having to deal with Indians with 6 first names
. I dont think there's any cultural seminar that can address folks from that region of my country. Even I dont know some of it

I have 47 contractors that report to me... at least 40 of them are either in India now or moved to the US from India. It's strange to see a lot of them with the same first names... Pavan, Suresh, Srikanth, Sushanth, Abhishek, Pavani, etc. it almost seems like they're the US-versions of John, Joe, Chris, Matt, Mike, Brian, Michelle, etc.Comment

Re: The Values Americans Live By
Reddy is a south Indian last name, Patel (and Shah) are the most common Gujarati last names and probably constitute one of the largest populations of Indians in the US.www.mjwebhosting.com
