apparently news reports said that after her speech she got in her suv and stood up through the sunroof to waive at people etc, then some guy got close and shot her and then blew himself up

Bhutto died of a gunshot wound to the neck, the Pakistani Interior Ministry said. The attacker then blew himself up. The bomb attack killed at least 22 others, doctors said.

unfortunately, not much of a surprise as they took a shot at her the day she landed in Pakistan.

sadly, the balance she tried to give to Pakistani politics will be sorely missed. Let's just hope that the extremists don't gain all the ground she managed to hold politically.
