I found out today that I have tested positive for Lupus. This comes after a positive ANA test and a trip to a specialist. I am scared about whats is to come. If any one has any info about Lupus please share.

I am going to the woods to try an absorb this as best i can. I will be back tonight.

i lived with a woman that had lupus. there are several different types if i remember right. it can affect your joints, organs or skin. it can also be caused by some types of medication?. i do believe that the vast majority of lupus patients live pretty normally.

Real sorry to hear that. You should find out what type it is and what caused it...as far as I know depending on what the cause is it can be treated or even cured.

my mother has lupus. honestly know very little of it. she was quite upset at first and hasnt mentioned it since. unsure of any type of life altering changes in routine that she deals with; again hasnt mentioned in years. keep us posted

Keep your chin up brother. At 18 months my son was diagnosed with a life-altering disorder. And have to say the diagnose was the worst part. Our lives changed forever that day and there was alot of angry and hopelessness. But I believe they are also opportunities to grow as a person. Just takes time and is a process. My experience anyway.Can't say I know much about Lupus but I'm sure there's some support groups and message boards to check out. You're in my thoughts and prayers buddy.

My friends mother in law has had lupus since she's known her, about 14 years. She's well into her seventies and I don't know how long she's been living with lupus for, but she's living life everyday. She needs help with certain things, but I think that's more from age and being Italian and eating lot's of pasta!

I know a girl in work that has had a form of lupus for years .. she's in full health and enjoys a normal life - she keeps her health in check, goes to the gym, enjoys a good night out and is very bubbly.

From what I can tell you need to be sensible .. but there should hopefully be no major changes if things go well and stay in check.

Really sorry to hear this. I know practically nothing about Lupus but I do know your doctors are the ones who can tell you what it will mean to you. Have a little time to yourself to feel it. Then have a long talk with your doctor.
