yes, yes you are.
This was an exploratory rig. Accidents fucking happen. How in the hell does BP gain from this?
And lmao, i lmao, at you labeling businesses as if it was some singular mind of its own. people like you me, your neighbors, etc, go to work for these businesses. they trade their time and skills for value which is funded by providing a product in demand by consumers like yourself. They don't have an eye to destroy the world.
But then, if big oil would destroy the world if they could, then, I respectfully request, please stop fucking funding them you hypocrite.you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky

^a lot of this.
we all run our cars all day long zippitty dee fucking doo dah up and down the interstate, but when something RARE like this happens, we're calling for BP's heads. Hey, it's sad, but...fuck the geese and ducks imo, this is a product of who we are and what we do. It was an accident and a concequence of being humans. you can't cry outrage from an accident unless you're riding a bicycle to work every day. you can't have it both ways.Comment

Re: Oil leak in Gulf of Mexico off coast of LA
someone asked about whether this would increase the cost of oil/bbl and/or gasoline above. Although, apparently, it won't...
...
...i'm wondering: what will be our response to this in terms of energy policy? I guess what i'm asking is....will this basically end up with us having to rely on foreign oil even more than we already do? It looks like Obama is backtracking on his attempt to get us drilling offshore...so I'm just thinking about this in terms of reactions to our domestic energy policy.you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky

I would expect the price of seafood to go up though. And yeah Clint, I feel ya brother. It's going to affect all of us down here in Louisiana. Katrina and Gustav are peanuts compared to this. What really sucks is that if the oil slick moves west, then my camp down in Pecan Island will be damaged beyond repair...again, and I won't get to do any Gulf fishing, shrimping, and crabbing for a long while. I expect a portion of my summer break is going to be spent helping out down there.....“Only those who attempt the absurd...will achieve the impossible. I think...I think it's in my basement... I live in Mid City right next to City Park. Though my wife and I just bought a house on the northshore and will be moving soon.

Damn Clint, thats gonna suck bad on North Shore if the oil gets into Lake Pontchartrain. So far, the oil is moving east. I know it sounds terrible, but I'm glad to see the oil moving east and not west towards my little parcel of land near the shrimping grounds and oyster farms. On a different note, here are some NASA images of the spill:

Re: Oil leak in Gulf of Mexico off coast of LA
Yeah, we are very worried about Lake Ponchartrain now since the slick is moving east. This whole thing is disastrous beyond belief. From the lives lost, to the environmental damages, to the seafood industries that will take a major hit. And I'm sure somehow with government interaction, eventually the oil industry will now suffer because of this accident.
