I agree that Biden is a bit of a dimwit...Obama - impossible to tell...even if he was below average (but higher than Bush) we would all think he is a genius; his handlers make sure of that.

Hell no (I rarely drink...maybe once a year at most), and I'll stand by it 100%. If you really think 0bama and Biden are intellectuals of any significance, you must be on crack. The only credit 0bama gets is being shrewd at deception. Biden is a guffaw-uttering buffoon.

OT...but that's a bit of a generalization, don'tcha' think? As if somehow 0bama and Biden are intellectual giants in comparison to her. The only real political ammo against her was her resignation as governor, and the rest have come from the liberal media pouncing efforts while 0bama's guffaws largely get a free pass.

I agree with you that radical Islam is a serious (but hardly the only) threat...the elite fan the flames by their attempts to meddle with those regimes and "democratize" them. Dictatorships there have brought stability, as much as it pains me to say it.

but you win, the protest in Egypt is not really about the system and mubarak, its subliminally about FGM.

    ffs im outta here
lol, do you NOT understand sarcasm? clearly i wasn't really suggesting they were actually protesting mubarak because of fgm. lol

either the women you know are not A) egyptian, or 2) they're lying (or did you mean the quaranic 'know') or D) given that you seem fairly secular (and i use that liberally here) you probably surround yourself with those who are more enlightened (as opposed to endarkened) and reject such traditional practices. who knows?

of course they love islam. it's second to none. i often deride christians for putting "christ before country". i don't think it's much of a stretch to apply the same to them. (allah before america/ lolwut)

there's a difference between women who voluntarily decided to shove a rod through their clit, and a girl who is forced to a doctor's office and having the procedure done. (do they even put them under, i wonder!)

    here:

    or wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_cutting
Egypt (78–97% prevalence, Type I, II and III)Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population has banned all forms of female genital cutting since 2007.[86] ...This law had proved ineffective and in a survey in 2000, a study found that 97% of the country's population still practiced FGC. In light of the widespread practice of FGC, even after the ban in 1997, some Egyptian villages decided to voluntarily give up the practice, as was the case with Abou Shawareb, which vowed in July 2005 to end the practice.[citation needed] However, it remains a culturally accepted practice, and a 2005 study found that over 95% of Egyptian women have undergone some form of FGC.

really? "not a middle class thing"? "no one really promotes it"? "mostly country people"? just look how well the education in small clinics have been working. how do you separate the people from the religion in this context? If this is PURELY an egyptian thing, and not a muslim thing (which i thought was clear when I qualified it as 'egyptian-muslim thing' above), then egyptians really ARE as uneducated as anyone could believe, even you who say only 'uneducated' people practice this....maybe this is the reason they protest? perhaps they want to decriminalize it (not that laws against it have ever stopped them - those are stats speaking, not me editorializing).

"plus no egyptian really cares about that genitalia stuff right now, but i see why you would bring it up..and didnt u see the women all over the streets and in the protest so what religion"

no, they were all covered up. in fact, i find quite the opposite...i see a woman here and there in a burqa, and even rarer to see one in plain clothing.

funny, that kinda reminds me of a few composites.

Does the progression of pictures help visually depict my concerns? Well I'm not sure really. Perhaps I haven't been clear enough.

If the Egyptians are going to continue backwards traditions such as cutting up clits, what real possibility is there that Egypt will become more modern, more democratic, more tolerant? I would love to be convinced that those who practice backwards traditions will promote modern notions of law, justice, economics, and rights. But i just don't see it happening.

As far as Mubarak stopping the terrorist bombing of the church - remind me, because my memory is fuzzy, was it that obscure pro-Mubarak faction that bombed them?

    wait.

are you referring to the bombing at the beginning of the year? or the one that happened this afternoon??

I guess you'd blame Mubarak since, technically, it's still on his watch. I can't really argue against that if that's your stance.

I would prefer Obama for the next 30 years is the alternative was a member of the westboro baptist church.

thats totally a dictatorship view btw and especially coming from an american shows alot, u saying that the people are too dumb to know whats best for them and only the government knows whats best, you know where else ive seen this? take a wild guess...hey have u seen any UFO's lately btw!

man again these are ur assumptions, middle class do not support this in large and they dont really care right now about ur pointless point, there are more important issues at hand.
