Just can't help myself. One of the best nights EVER !! And the rest of Australia agrees with me.
This is stuff from the forums . Which says it all really !!
Charlie May is fucking amazing !!!
HELL YEAH Man is awesome. Could've danced my ass off for another 5 hours to those lush sounds.
For me, the man I really wanted the pleasure of witnessing live, is none other than production legend Charlie May. Oh and by the way, ABOUT FARKIN TIME.
This guy is a music production machine. And although he's fairly new to Djing, I don't believe anyone on the dancefloor rocking away would've thought so.
He is one talented mofo and man did he show it. Sets like this are the main reason why I go out. I'm pretty certain that what he played was every progheads musical wet dreams coming to life.
He needs to come out again and rock our worlds once more.
The crowd was awesome and I had an absolute blast hanging out with and partying with like minded punters.
Rolled in after Babicz and it was definitely worth it. May dominated great crowd, great tunes, great night. Was awesome going nuts to prog thumpers to a very appreciative crowd. Topped off an awesome night perfectly.
The Brisbane gig was down on numbers thanks to Tiesto playing up the road... so we ended up with more of a "private party" atmosphere. Charlie ripped the place apart for just over 3hr 15mins though - don't think I've ever witnessed such an awesome slab of consistent, quality, downright NASTY chugging dark goodness as what he played last night - and all of his own creation! Just when you think you're on the verge of collapse from techy bomb after techy bomb he throws in an edit of an Emfire tune... unbelievable to hear Coma just creep in out of nowhere and elevate the set to a whole new level... then again with Park it in the Shade about 30mins later. INCREDIBLE AMAZING HOLY SHIT!!!
Hernan, Diggers, Sasha look out. Mr May has seriously arrived, in a big way...
Folks DO NOT miss him if you have the opportunity!
It felt just wonderful to be a part of a very special group who really, really appreciated what Charlie May was putting out. I heard more what I call "proper" prog last night than I have heard in ages. He is an absolute monster. !!
Then Charlie May, I've only heard a couple of sets of his, heard enough to make him the reason to out last night. He exceeded my wildest expectations!! I want to see him again so badly !! This was prog in it's purest form. No plod , just waves of fabulous music washing over us!! God it was good
DUDE! He fucking delivered, and then some! Easily one of the best sets I've ever heard! EVER! The depth and complexity to his productions are insane, it's like he smashed together elements of trance, techno, breaks, thundering tribal rhythms atop the most sick chugging basslines...totally next level shit! Blew me away...I knew he'd be good, but no idea he'd be that good! It was the kind of music that was deserving of 3000+ people, outdoors, sunrise kinda stuff!
Wow. What a night. I had enormously high expectations of Charlie May and he delivered on every front. Without question one of the top five prog sets I've caught in the last 10 years. Period. Would love to see what another 3 hours would bring ...
Charlie May was fucking AWESOME! MUCH prefered him then Babicz live show later that evening.
May killed it. So glad to hear some
old Spooky tunes and also "Apache
May down here was unbelievably, stunningly great!! One of the best sets EVER!! And I don't say that lightly.
But fucking hell was he amazing!!! I have a fair few of his tracks over the years, so had a fairly good idea he'd be wicked, but nothing like that! Easily the best set I've heard...the elements of breaks, techno, house, trance, prog, all being smashed together into one giant thundering wall of music...I've not heard much like that since I saw Rabbit In The Moon playing live...Sasha, sorry, who? Look out people, Charles is in town!
Last but not least, in the Brisbane Forum. Read from post 39. It's hilarious and wonderful at the same time !
Btw the first quote was mine when I got home from the night.
