If I may make a comparison, many social conservatives of the jesus variety say that god gave us this earth and that this earth is good.....except for marijuana which is evil and makes you do crazy things. (it's not a perfect parallel, but I think it's close to what gaianists believe in reference to oil).

if you think this is bad, check out what's been going on in russia and china.
Yeah and perhaps we would have been better off if it was left as part of the planet. But stable doors and all that . That's all a bit silly actually It's what we do with oil that makes it all the bad things , if we left it in the ground it would just fine . Bit like uranium.

Btw what is a gaianist.?? Dictionary doesn't seem to know it.

I don't know any conspiracy about the oil rig.. I was being sarcastic ddr.

I mean you have to admit that it is kind of funny that the biggest oil spill in history happened on Earth Day.

He's talking about he has sided with the conspiracy theorists about this. Surprise, surprise!

Limbaugh Hits New Low With Oil-Spill Conspiracy

He suggests the rig's explosion is an inside job

(Newser) – Rush Limbaugh thinks the timing of the oil rig explosion is a little fishy: "What better way to head off more oil drilling, nuclear plants, than by blowing up a rig?" he asked on his last show. Which prompts Ezra Klein to dub him an "oil-spill truther" and pose a question of his own at his Washington Post blog: "Is there literally nothing this man can say that will convince Republicans to disavow him?"

According to the American College Dictionary, pollution is defined as: to make foul or unclean; dirty.

Water pollution occurs when a body of water is adversely affected due to the addition of large amounts of materials to the water. When it is unfit for its intended use, water is considered polluted. Two types of water pollutants exist; point source and nonpoint source. Point sources of pollution occur when harmful substances are emitted directly into a body of water.

The Exxon Valdez oil spill best illustrates a point source water pollution. A nonpoint source delivers pollutants indirectly through environmental changes. An example of this type of water pollution is when fertilizer from a field is carried into a stream by rain, in the form of run-off which in turn effects aquatic life.

The technology exists for point sources of pollution to be monitored and regulated, although political factors may complicate matters. Nonpoint sources are much more difficult to control. Pollution arising from nonpoint sources accounts for a majority of the contaminants in streams and lakes.

Yeah, we are very worried about Lake Ponchartrain now since the slick is moving east. This whole thing is disastrous beyond belief. From the lives lost, to the environmental damages, to the seafood industries that will take a major hit. And I'm sure somehow with government interaction, eventually the oil industry will now suffer because of this accident.
