Re: So I dumped my girlfriend for EDM

"ive brought countless gf's closer to edm" was my way of saying, several of my ex gf's still listen to EDM and originally did not... substitute countless with several

If you don't like her that much than yah dump her, but if she's a keeper than maybe she just wants you to help her understand why your so passionate about the music. With regard to her jealousy issues, we all have jealousy issues from time to time, we're human it happens. All I'm getting at is this, if your really attracted to her and she's a great girl, than it may be something that you could be a little bit more objective and patient about rather than jumping ship because she doesn't understand the scene that your into. But you know, if your looking for a reason to move on, I think this is a good one so long as she's easily replaceable...and lets face it, some girls are more easy to replace than others, depends on the girl. I've brought countless girlfriends closer to EDM by basically ignoring their initial objections to it and continuing to play it for them and explain what is unique and good about it vs. other genres.

There are some really spot on comment here!! Love this one,
" I don't respect anybody who judges me for being different from them"

    and this one,
"Your girlfriend doesn't have to be THAT into edm as long as she can live with it. But she HAS to respect what you're passionate about."

It's not EDM and parties that's the issue, I'm sure if you were into cars or hi-fi, she'd be giving you shit as well. Doesn't sound like someone who can handle or respect other people who're passionate about stuff. Sure it's nice to be with someone who's into EDM as well, but it shouldn't be the defining point of a relationship, what if one of you votes Digweed while the other votes Tiesto? Ok I guess that's enough grounds for a breakup.

i guess i can't say anything different than my bros have...if she can;t respect your loves in life, she's definitely not going to respect you.

That's really the key, IMO. My wife isn't into EDM but she gets that I am. She's into candy-pop top 40 stuff which isn't really my thing and loves Kathy Griffin (no explanation necessary), but I love her, so I deal with it. That's what you do in a relationship.

...so you didn't dump her over EDM, you dumped her because she clearly didn't get you.

my wife is into rock, mostly classic rock and hates edm (thinks edm producers and djs cant be called musicians). however, she has been to some events with me and she has been supportive of what i listen to. just because its not her thing or she doesnt understand it she would put it down.
