Real Name: Alejandra Iglesias
Genre: Techno, Tech House, Minimal, Leftfield
"Chilean born Alejandra Iglesias - nicknamed Dinky from birth - was immersed in music and art from an early age. With a penchant for avant-garde electronic music from the likes of Prince and Depeche Mode, it was her introduction to Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack and Luciano in the mid 90s when her obsession with dance music began in earnest.
Visiting her sister in Berlin exposed her to seminal clubs like E-werk and Tresor and artists like Sven Vath and Richie Hawtin, whose records she now began to collect. Later, whilst attending a contemporary dance school in Manhattan, her DJing talent bloomed, making her a fixture on the underground scene and convincing her to write her own music, eventually signing to Traum Schaallplatten. The link to Germany strengthened when she eventually moved from New York to Berlin in 2003, signed to Cocoon and cemented her place as a one of the foremost experimental techno DJs around.
2008 saw artist album number 3, May Be Later, her most blatant and raw exposition of her genre jumping eclecticism on Vakant. Since 2005 her own label Horizontal Records has been the main source of her own production release and her stock as must book artist for clubs like dc10 and panorambar stand as testament to her status at the top of the tree."
